Very Overpriced Villa

In general: The pictures show Villa Matija which is the villa we stayed at and not a hotel Very tired looking internally and externally - decoration, garden maintenance, condition of various items, some minor, some major (electrical), items not available as described or not functioning properly. Location and surroundings: There is an old derelict caravan and container unit on the piece of land to the front of the villa which totally spoils the view from the terrace, pool and garden area which was not shown on any of the external promotional photographs. The location information stated 300/400 meters to restaurants, shops and water front. There was 1 restaurant within the distance but everything else was much further. Ended up having to the cars as this was the main reason for booking this villa as one of our group had difficulty walking. Unfortunately, no shaded area at the villa to park them so they were always very hot. Service: We arranged for an additional bed which we were charged an extra €300 for the week but they didn’t supply any additional cutlery - only 8 complete settings. Freezer very small for 8 people, fridge shelf broken, only 1 ice tray - broken. Wiring to the boiler was exposed and held together with a cable tie plus various other issues.When we mentioned them to the owner she said they were aware but obviously had not rectified any of them. We also reported the issues to the agents but no goodwill gesture was offered by either. Greater attention to detail by the owners is definitely required. Dining: Shortage of cutlery for the number of occupants. No toaster as described. Coffee filter fell apart and only luke warm coffee - if there had been a microwave we could have warmed it up! No welcome pack or even chilled water. Sports and leisure: There were two bicycles but the tyres needed air - the pump adapter wouldn't fit properly so unable to use, plus the cycle lock key was missing. Pool not really suitable for young or elderly as no shallow end with walk in steps, only metal step ladder type for access. Room: All the ensuites had shower cubicles with mixer taps suitable for a bath - no riser rail or hook to attach the shower head. Unable to have a normal shower. Drainage smell to the ground floor ensuite and the one above. Balacony view spoilt by the caravan and container unit. Shortage of coat hangers - it would have been nice to have hung up all our clothes. Useful tips: If anyone is still interested in booking this villa I would suggest you look at the varying prices - we paid over €4000 for the week inc the additional camp bed - if we had booked through another provider it would have been less €2500 with no extra charge for more than the original 8 people. Also check if it will definitely be available as it is currently up for sale.
